In Kenya, paraplegics have to travel 4000 kms across the continent for treatment. We highlighted this problem by getting one of them to undertake this arduous journey. In a wheelchair. Zack set off on the premise that he’d stop only when we raised money needed to build a rehabilitation centre closer home. The journey, documented on social media, tugged the heart strings of a nation while capturing the attention of international news networks (BBC, NY Times, Al Jazeera, Guardian). Luckily Zack didn’t have to travel very far as the target of $1 million was raised in just over a week.
